Welcome to the Robeson County Humane Society No-Kill Animal Shelter

Robeson County's Only Privately Funded, State Licensed "No-Kill"
Rescue Organization!

RCHS is celebrating it's 25th year anniversary as Robeson County's only no-kill animal rescue facility. A faithful & tireless group of volunteers, members & staff who have been selflessly giving cats and dogs a new start in life. Showing these forgotten critters a better and more compassionate way of life.

We are a State approved 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping cats and dogs. We were founded to find loving homes for adoptable animals, and promote responsible pet ownership throughout the county with an emphasis on spaying and neutering.

The Robeson County Humane Society Animal Shelter's volunteers and staff provide care for adoptable dogs and cats that live there until appropriate forever homes are found for them.

The Society also welcomes gifts of time, talent, and treasure. There are many volunteer opportunities both at the shelter and with other Humane Society projects. You can also get up to date on some of our past and present events and some of the "wish-list  projects" at our shelter by downloading & browsing our

quarterly newsletter.

What We are all about

Our primary goal is to rescue and find appropriate placement for homeless animals.  Adoptable and treatable animals that demonstrate no signs of aggression will remain at our facility until the right home is found for them. We believe in educating our community about responsible pet ownership, and the humane treatment of animals. We also practice progressive spay/neuter and adoption programs. Adoption applications are not necessarily approved on a first come, first serve basis. Our goal is to find the right family for the right animal, and the right animal for the right family. Therefore, we reserve the right to approve applications that appear to be the best fit for both the adopter and the adoptee.

Important News about Our Aging Facility!

We have had numerous and serious roof leaks over the past couple of years. Our building is over 50 years old and has a 10,000 square foot flat roof. The roof is now in desperate need of replacement. We have received news that a grant will only cover a fraction ($15,000) of the $80,000 replacement cost, and there is no guarantee we will even be awarded this grant. If you or anyone you know has the means or ability to help us, please contact our facility at 910-738-8282, or email us at This project is beyond our financial means. Our average monthly expenses alone to keep our shelter open are high. These expenses include our everyday utilities (water, electric, gas), insurance, veterinary expenses and a very minimal staff salary. Please help us if you can.
